This role would suit an experienced broiler grower or a working couple with strong livestock experience who value animal welfare, teamwork and a rural lifestyle.
The Opportunity
The successful applicant will:
- Lease an established 7-shed broiler farm at Woodlands’ Glasshouse Mountains complex.
- Operate as an independent contractor, managing day-to-day farm operations and labour.
- Grow broilers under contract to Woodlands Enterprises, producing birds to agreed welfare, performance and quality standards.
This is a genuine business opportunity, not a wage-based role.
Farm and Infrastructure
- 7 tunnel-ventilated sheds with automated controllers.
- On-site modern 4-bedroom residence included.
- Feed, chicks and technical support supplied by Woodlands Enterprises.
- Backed by a dedicated broiler services, maintenance and support team.
Your Responsibilities
- Independently manage all daily farm operations, including:
- Bird care, feeding, ventilation and flock performance.
- Staff employment, supervision and rostering.
- Maintain high standards of:
- Animal welfare and RSPCA compliance.
- Biosecurity, hygiene and safety.
- Manage farm utilities, routine maintenance and consumables.
- Monitor performance data and work collaboratively with Woodlands Enterprises’ broiler team.
Support Provided
You will be supported by:
- Experienced broiler service staff.
- Nutrition, veterinary and technical specialists.
- Centralised feed supply and logistics.
- Maintenance support for major infrastructure.
About You
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience growing broiler chickens (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of animal welfare, biosecurity and compliance standards.
- Experience managing staff and operating a farm business.
- A hands-on, self-motivated approach and willingness to live on-site.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and partnership.

Woodlands is seeking a qualified Mechanical Fitter to maintain and repair the production equipment in our Feed Mill based onsite in Beerwah, Sunshine Coast. The successful applicant would be exposed to a wide variety of tasks in our Mill.
Tasks include but not limited to-
- Conduct breakdown repairs, preventative and scheduled maintenance duties
- Fault Finding and troubleshooting throughout the Mill
- Participating in improvement projects that aim to reduce unplanned stoppages
- General Machining duties
- In consultation with Mill Production Management and Staff, identify equipment and areas requiring attention aiming for efficient running of mill.
Skills and experience

- Trade Qualification as a Mechanical Fitter

Maintenance Field Technician
Woodlands is seeking a Maintenance Field Technician (trade qualified) who will provide effective maintenance and repair of poultry sheds and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- To carry out maintenance to poultry sheds and equipment, including replace and rebuild components including fans, press bearings, winches, pulleys and cool pads
- Respond and attend to breakdowns and shed maintenance
- Perform preventative maintenance in a timely, cost-effective manner with proficient problem-solving skills
- Proactively identify, diagnose, and repair breakdowns of auger motors, feedline motors, silo repairs and feed hoppers in a timely manner
- Actively participate and assist in equipment upgrades and installations
- Promote a safety culture and comply with company policies
- Participate in Toolbox Talks and assist in resolving operational issues
- Work effectively in team environment with a positive attitude
Skills and experience

- Trade certificate is essential (Fitter)

Tilt Tray and Truck Driver
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Transport and Field Services Manager, you will work closely with other Woodlands staff to ensure egg and chicken waste are transported safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Material is loaded either via truck-mounted crane or dispatched directly into the truck. The role involves no manual handling.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport egg and chicken waste between Woodlands sites
- Operate a HR body tipper truck safely and efficiently
- Undertake additional truck-related duties (float, tilt tray, water or tipper truck)
- Ensure correct loading via truck-mounted crane or direct dispatch
- Complete deliveries between Beerwah, Beerburrum and Conondale
- Thoroughly wash and clean the truck at the end of each shift
- Complete daily vehicle inspections and documentation in line with NHVAS requirements
- Identify and report any vehicle or equipment issues
- Perform related duties within the scope of the role
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- HR Driver’s Licence
- Previous experience operating a HR body tipper truck
- Experience in general transport or waste-removal roles
- Ability to meet early start times (6.00am starts)
- Experience with float, tilt tray, water truck or other heavy vehicles

Qualifications and Experience

- Working in our Hatchery involves:
- Cleaning (using pressure washer) and sanitising equipment
- Driving and Hatchery work including driving a manual ute (ESSENTIAL) and/or HR truck transporting livestock to farms
- General Hatchery daily labouring operations work (sorting and moving livestock, cleaning and sanitising equipment and the hatchery)
- Manual drivers licence (for driving work)
- HR truck licence desirable (for driving work)
